Each year Scholastic Book Fairs, in partnership with schools across the country, hosts more than 127,000 book-sale events that give more than 35 million students and their families access to thousands of affordable and educational products, helping foster a lifelong love of reading. We are currently in search of a Branch Inventory Coordinator to help our associates manage the inventory needed to provide kids with the books they want to read.
This full-time position offers a dynamic work environment within a distribution center. You will be responsible for overseeing all inventory control activities within the assigned branch, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in stock management.

Responsibilities
- Oversee all inventory control activities within the assigned branch.
- Develop mastery of the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and operate as the Branch Subject Matter Expert (SME).
- Maintain inventory integrity within the assigned branch.
- Ensure the branch is in compliance with Inventory Status Metrics.
- Analyze Inventory Status and WMS Status results for process deficiencies and training opportunities.
- In conjunction with the Branch Manager and Warehouse Supervisor, develop plans to correct substandard performance.
- Oversee the accuracy of Inbound Receipts and Outbound Shipments.
- Oversee and/or conduct cycle counts, including task-driven counts, user-initiated counts (random), and specific title requested counts.
- Broadly research and resolve inventory variances.
- Independently identify root causes of variances and collaborate with Branch Management to prevent recurrences.
- Execute Inventory Control Alerts (ICA’s) timely and accurately.
- Execute and/or oversee timely shipments of branch transfers.
- Follow Corporate processes for donations, damages, and destructions.
- Oversee the Monitor Process (if applicable), ensuring accuracy of data and completion of required monitors by fair type and by phase.
- Ensure line sets are completed accurately and timely, including but not limited to: Mainline Schematic Titles, Supplemental Titles, all marketing materials and signage, and Schematic Changes.
- Monitor and Manage On-Sale Date titles to ensure they are released at the correct time.
- Proactively and independently identify potential inventory shortages and communicate to the Branch Manager.
- Support regionally prescribed methods for fulfilling backordered titles.
- Ensure Physical Inventory activity is executed according to documented processes.
- Ensure inventory is utilized as directed for Warehouse Sale Events.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested, specifically but not limited to direction provided from the Inventory Control Supervisor, Branch Managers, or Corporate Leaders.
- Maintain confidentiality relative to pricing, promotion, distribution, inventory, customer lists, and financial reports.
- Effectively communicate with branch, regional, and corporate leaders.
- Proactively identify key issues and patterns from partial or conflicting data and provide recommended solutions.
- Act as a formal and informal resource for colleagues with less experience.
- Comply with the drug and alcohol-free policy.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Prefer 2 years of inventory experience with a distribution company, in an inventory-related position, with developed specialized skills through job-related training.
- Strong math and analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and detail orientation, with a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to complete work with a limited degree of supervision.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted, repetitively.
- Previous experience/certification of power equipment operation preferred.
- Must obtain certification on all company equipment.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced distribution center environment.
- Proficiency in computer spreadsheets (Excel) and word processing (Word) required.
- Familiarity with computerized Inventory location systems is preferred.
- Working knowledge of inventory scanner systems is preferred.
- Occasional travel may be required.
