As a Software Development Engineer, you will research, define, design, and refine the technology that keeps us ahead of listeners. Audible’s Creator Marketplace customers are talented storytellers, voice actors, producers, publishers, and our internal content teams. What you'll do

  • Design, develop, and test software components and applications for one of the largest creators and providers of audiobooks in the world.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to imagine, design, develop, test, and launch software that impacts our customers and inspires your peers.
  • Be proficient in a broad range of data structures and algorithms, knowing when it is (and isn’t) appropriate to use them.
  • Independently clarify technical requirements, assess development estimates, and apply a broad range of design approaches.
  • Review code of other team members and provide constructive direction.
  • Mentor and lead developers by cultivating curiosity and deep technical understanding.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
  • Experience with Machine Learning and Large Language Model fundamentals, including architecture, training/inference lifecycles, and optimization of model execution, or experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • Experience handling ambiguous or undefined challenges through strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers.
  • Knowledge of cloud services such as AWS or equivalent.
  • Experience in written and verbal communication skills to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.
  • Experience programmatically testing products, measuring test coverage, developing the best automation, and driving testability and diagnostics.
  • Experience with automating and simplifying team development, test, and operations processes.

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
