Role overview

The Recognition Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the Oxford Test of English (OTE) is accepted by key institutions and decision-makers, driving market growth and revenue across regions. This position is responsible for delivering engagement and recognition activities with International Higher Education communities, Ministries, Employers, and other stakeholders globally.

Working with the Global Recognition Lead and the Assessment Marketing team, the postholder will drive reach, recognition, and advocacy for the OTE. The role focuses on designated markets and key institutions, initially North America, managing the recognition journey to gain acceptance of OTE results for English proficiency requirements.

Recognition Strategy Execution

  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the strategy to increase global recognition of the Oxford Test of English, understanding its commercial value.
  • Develop and deliver plans for recognition activity in key destination countries for international students.

Stakeholder Engagement Strategy and Advocacy

  • Liaise with Admissions, International Office, and English Language staff at target Higher Education Institutions to provide key messages about the assessment and respond to queries, aiming for formal recognition for admissions purposes.
  • Identify and seek recognition from relevant employers based in the country who have specific English language requirements.
  • Seek Ministry or other national body approval of OTE, where required, by providing materials and commentary to support application processes.
  • Provide support to local teams seeking Ministry approval in their region.
  • Liaise with national stakeholders to build awareness of the OTE and provide updated information for relevant databases.

Market Insights and Reporting

  • Collaborate with Recognition, Assessment colleagues, and Assessment Marketing teams to develop messaging on recognition, including competitive comparisons, and to refine materials such as FAQs for the recognition process and website.
  • Gather feedback on the value admissions staff place on the OTE to inform future development, identifying appropriate admissions contacts for focus groups.
  • Attend virtual and face-to-face events and conferences of stakeholder bodies, identifying suitable events for the recognition events calendar and suggesting opportunities for involvement.
  • Work with Assessment Marketing colleagues to develop and host webinars and other events to raise awareness of the OTE within the International HE community.
  • Partner with Sales Enablement and the central recognition team to continually develop relevant skills within the team, including persuasion and lobbying.
  • Support the Global Recognition Lead in tracking global progress and contributing to the continuous development of systems for managing progress and reporting dashboards.
