Job Description

Role overview

W. W. Norton is seeking interns to participate in our twelve-week internship program. This program provides participants with an engaging, supportive, and hands-on learning experience in publishing, including educational lunch sessions and networking opportunities within the intern class.

What you'll do

  • Assist with research projects aimed at gathering more sales and marketing leads.
  • Assist in the social media process, including creating posts, curating copy, and designing graphics for our audience.
  • Create press releases for books, event flyers, posterboards, and other projects.
  • Create press lists and publicity pitches.
  • Learn the basics of copyediting and proofreading.
  • Attend staff meetings and gain insight into the publishing process.
  • Work with platforms such as MailChimp, Canva, Adobe Express, and MuckRack.
  • Potentially work with the editorial team on select projects.

Qualifications

  • You are a college junior, senior, recent graduate, or someone looking to make a career change.
  • You are eager to improve your verbal and written communication skills.
  • You enjoy collaborating and working in a group to solve challenges.
  • You have a passion for learning and ideas.
  • You have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • You are interested in design and social media.
  • You are interested in psychology and mental health.

Internship details

  • Paid internship at $17 per hour, subject to applicable law.
  • Maximum of 20 hours per week.
  • Internship period: twelve weeks from 9/14/2026 to 12/4/2026.
  • Workday: 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time; specific work hours are flexible.
  • Location: In-person in our Manhattan offices for those within commuting distance; remote for those in other locations.
  • Eligibility to work with W.W. Norton & Company in the US is required.
