Role overview
Turner Publishing is looking for an enthusiastic Marketing Associate to join our team. This role will report to the Publisher and will be responsible for author engagement and marketing outreach for our ~32 frontlist books a year. As we continue to expand and our books reach more readers, we are looking for a passionate employee to help us share our books further.
The Marketing Associate will combine excellent communication skills with a deep love of books and enthusiasm for the publishing industry and Turner. The ideal candidate for this position is outgoing, able to manage multiple projects at once, have great communication skills, and desire to share Turner’s books far and wide.
Responsibilities
- Serve as authors’ point person for marketing-related questions
- Conduct outreach to trade publications, building Turner’s relationship with industry publications
- Assist authors with target list, ARC mailings, and blurb collection
- Pitch books for publicity to media outlets, influencers, bookstore events, etc.
- In coordination with Editorial and Rights departments, pitch books for special edition adaptations where appropriate
Requirements
- Strong communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word
- Proficiency in design platforms like Canva or Adobe
- General understanding and knowledge of current book market and popular titles
- Marketing experience such as email marketing, marketing research, or publicity outreach
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Ability and willingness to learn new systems
- A love of books
- Outgoing and enthusiastic personality
- Openness to incorporating AI into workflow where appropriate
- Publishing experience is a plus
- Experience with Ingram systems is a plus
Compensation and Benefits
- This is a part-time (24 hrs/week) position
- Salary range: $23,000 – $26,000
