About
Holtzbrinck and the AI Hub
Holtzbrinck is one of the world's leading media companies. We're home to Springer Nature, Macmillan Publishers, Macmillan Learning, DIE ZEIT, and Digital Science, with a portfolio spanning science, education, literature, and journalism. Our values—curiosity, commitment, and passion—carried us to over 14,000 people, more than 120 countries, and over USD 4 billion in revenue.
Based in San Francisco, the AI Hub sits at the intersection of a global media group and the world's most vibrant AI ecosystem. We shape the group's AI strategy, build partnerships with leading AI labs, run programs that grow AI capability across our companies, and invest in what comes next. We work directly with the Executive Board, leaders, and builders across the portfolio.
Role overview
Our portfolio companies employ thousands of people whose work is changing because of AI. Your job is to make that change deliberate. You own the programs that turn curiosity into capability: from our San Francisco Residency Program, where portfolio talent explore their AI-related ideas for up to three months in San Francisco, to Functional AI Leadership Weeks that bring our functional leaders together with partners, startups, and thought leaders to drive the AI transformation.
What you will do
- Run our Residency Program end to end: cohort selection, onboarding, curriculum
- Build a strong alumni network of global AI talent across Holtzbrinck
- Design and deliver Functional AI Leadership Weeks, including playbooks, agendas, and speaker curation
- Plan and facilitate leadership offsites and enablement workshops
- Own regular meetings across AI leaders and builders and build it into a genuine community across portfolio companies
- Drive the AI Hub's internal and external communications, including our newsletter and event comms
- Measure what matters: participation, satisfaction, and real adoption per cycle, reported to leadership
What success looks like
- Our Residency Program runs at full capacity with a waitlist, and the prototype-to-deployment rate exceeds benchmarks
- Every major function has been through a Functional AI Week within 18 months, with each week producing implementation next steps that significantly drive our internal AI transformation
- Portfolio executives request your workshops instead of being sent to them
- Holtzbrinck's AI communities are places where portfolio companies learn from each other
- People at Holtzbrinck say the AI Hub programs have been instrumental in advancing their AI initiatives and strategy
What you bring
- A bachelor's or master's degree in business, innovation, management, or a related field, ideally with a focus on technology, data, or business development
- 2+ years of experience in AI strategy, innovation management, or product strategy, ideally within science, education, or media
- Technical fluency; you collaborate with AI tools every day, can read a demo critically, and are proactively following the latest AI developments
- Demonstrated experience building and managing relationships with external partners, whether AI companies, academic institutions, or startups
- Experience presenting to and advising senior leadership and coordinating across stakeholders in a complex organization
- Event and program experience, for example organizing innovation workshops, networking formats, or partner-facing initiatives
- A highly organized self-starter who enjoys running projects independently and thrives in a fast-moving environment
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary: $120,000
- FLSA Status: Exempt
