Role overview
The Editorial Intern assists all members of the editorial staff. Day-to-day tasks include reading and reporting on submissions, researching potential book ideas, helping guide books to production, and working on special projects. Interns sit in on a number of proposal and other meetings and get the chance to learn how editors evaluate book proposals and a glimpse into the publishing cycle.
Responsibilities

- Attend proposal and other meetings to learn about the editorial evaluation process and the publishing cycle
Qualifications
- Strong interest in publishing, particularly the editorial process
- Interest in social justice and how it intersects with publishing
- Commitment to diversity and inclusiveness in the book publishing industry
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive hourly wage of $20
- Internship duration: 10–14 weeks
- Weekly commitment: 17–20 hours
- Flexible schedule; availability on Thursdays for meetings is preferable
