Role overview
In the SGX team, Amazon Publishing offers conversion services with a mission to develop innovative approaches to connect authors and readers. We are seeking collaborative, motivated, and process-oriented Editors to assist with content quality processes and support initiatives that ensure the quality of our physical and digital books.
In this role, you will be working with editorial, promotional text, and review quote quality, as well as validating and resolving content issues that arise after initial manuscript editing and formatting is complete. This is a multifaceted job that requires flexibility and a dedication to quality to help us fulfill our mission of driving and measuring excellence in publishing.
Responsibilities
- Perform updates to promotional content and review quotes, ensuring stylistic consistency.
- Investigate potential issues reported by customers for both US and UK English.
- Audit and validate completeness of vendor-sourced editorial quality data.
- Partner with vendors in the EU region for quality validation.
- Troubleshoot content issues that arise during and following editing and formatting processes.
- Establish editorial issue validity using grammar and spelling expertise, balancing clarity and accuracy with creative intent.
- Partner with design subject matter experts to establish validity of design issues.
- Collaborate with multiple teams to efficiently and accurately resolve content changes across all impacted book and file formats and systems.
- Support the Content Quality team to ensure quality, author happiness, and reader satisfaction.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Linguistics, or a related field.
- 2+ years of technical writer, editor, or content strategist experience.
- Experience in editing, copy-editing, and proofreading.
- Experience using and following a style guide.
- Experience with content management systems (CMS), Basic HTML, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience troubleshooting and documenting findings.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in English, Communications, Linguistics, or a related field.
