Lakeside Book Company is seeking a Casemaker Operator to join their team in Harrisonburg, VA. This role involves operating and maintaining the Crathern Casemaker, leading a Material Handler, and ensuring the quality and productivity of cases for hardcover books. Responsibilities

Set up, adjust, and operate the Crathern Casemaker.
Lead and mentor a Material Handler responsible for jogging cases and piling them down.
Inspect equipment for safety issues.
Monitor the viscosity of animal glue and adjust as needed.
Monitor quality, output, and productivity of cases.
Read and interpret written work orders or job specifications containing bindery requirements.
Maintain dimensional accuracy in accordance with provided instructions.

Qualifications

General knowledge of complex machinery with the ability to troubleshoot issues.
Ability to read and understand measurements using a line gauge to ensure product is in spec.
Good understanding of computer programs and ability to enter accurate data.
Knowledge of the quality and machining requirements of various coated and uncoated paper stocks.
Skill in setting up and adjusting machines for finishing operations, refining adjustments based on paper stock weight, color, machinability, and quality.
Skill in using standard and specialized tools to adjust and maintain the functional accuracy and operating condition of the Crathern Casemaker.
Ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Preference will be given to candidates who agree to participate in cross-training and assume responsibility as a back-up for lateral and progressive roles.

Starting Rate: $24.93 (Base $23.30 + 7% Shift Differential)
