Ready to make your mark in higher education? If you excel at building relationships and exceeding goals, Kendall Hunt Publishing is looking for a driven Acquisitions Sales Representative to join our team. We're seeking a talented professional with strong communication and sales skills to develop lasting partnerships with college professors.

This is a remote position with approximately 7 weeks of overnight travel per semester, alternating between one week working from home and the following week on a college campus. The ideal candidate will be located in Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Lancaster, York, Reading, Allentown) or Maryland (Towson, Hunt Valley, Timonium, Owing Mills, Frederick).

Responsibilities

  • Interview professors and listen for business potential.
  • Persuade select candidates to work with Kendall Hunt Publishing by partnering with experts in their field.
  • Identify business opportunities by calling and traveling to different colleges and universities in your territory.
  • Interview professors and persuade author candidates who have what it takes to become Kendall Hunt authors.
  • Partner with talented educators in charge of lower-level, higher-enrollment courses to develop more interactive and engaging materials that solve the needs of their students and can make an impact in their college career and in the difference they make in the world in the future.
  • Uncover new sales channels for current product lines or find new products to sell to current customers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required, in accordance with the company's corporate driving policy.
  • You take initiative and work independently, demonstrating an entrepreneurial mindset by actively problem-solving and utilizing strong critical thinking skills.
  • You have a strong desire to learn, coupled with a deep inclination to ask questions and seek answers, while actively engaging in diverse subject matter.
  • You embrace a drive to win and excel, consistently seeking improvement and striving to outperform in a dynamic market.
  • You show persistence in overcoming challenges while exhibiting the ability to adapt and be flexible.
  • You demonstrate the ability to effectively listen, ask questions, think creatively/critically, and close new business with prospective customers.
  • You communicate clearly and confidently with professors, authors, team members, and internal employees, ensuring that information is conveyed effectively and professionally.
  • You can handle multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and customer service. This position requires you to always wear multiple hats, so time management is crucial.
  • You can identify challenges and develop practical solutions in real-time, enhancing customer satisfaction and streamlining processes.
  • You demonstrate proficiency in managing responsibilities that require substantial independent work while also engaging in team collaboration. This dual approach aims to achieve individual sales success while contributing positively to overall team dynamics.
  • You enjoy spending time on college campuses, because in this job, you'll be spending a lot of time on college campuses in your territory.
