Role overview

W. W. Norton is seeking interns to participate in our twelve-week internship program. This program provides participants with an engaging, supportive, and hands-on learning experience in publishing, including educational lunch sessions and networking opportunities within the intern class.

Responsibilities

  • Research college course markets for 2026 sampling outreach for Norton and client publishers
  • Compile and verify contact lists using Excel
  • Update leads and create opportunities in Salesforce
  • Draft newsletters and email copy for outreach and academic promotion
  • Maintain inboxes, lists, and databases of key information for communicating between trade and college departments
  • Monitor administrative tasks while keeping track of timelines
  • Brainstorm and plan future content and projects
  • Assist with 2026-2027 academic conference planning and research
  • Support academic webinars in partnership with college marketing teams

Qualifications

  • You enjoy the data and market research sides of marketing
  • You are adaptable to the changing priorities of a new and growing department
  • You are a college junior, senior, recent graduate, or someone looking to make a career change
  • You are eager to improve your verbal and written communication skills
  • You enjoy collaborating and working in a group to solve challenges
  • You have a passion for learning and ideas
  • You have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Compensation and Benefits

  • Paid at $17 per hour, subject to applicable law
  • Maximum of 20 hours weekly

Internship details

  • Internship period is twelve weeks from 9/14/2026 to 12/4/2026
  • Workday is 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time; specific work hours are flexible to accommodate an intern’s schedule
  • For interns who reside within commuting distance of the office, this internship will be in-person in our Manhattan offices; those in other locations will work remotely
  • Eligibility to work with W.W. Norton & Company in the US is required
